If you are really, really lucky, you might be one of the few Samsung Galaxy S7 owners to have received an over-the-air update to Android Nougat. We are seeing unconfirmed reports that the company has launched a small soak test for the long awaited update, ahead of its full roll out which is supposed to happen sometime later in January.
According to the reports, the build number for the soak test is G935FXXU1DPLR. The software also reportedly contains the latest Android January 2017 security updates. Screenshots reveal that the update is to Android 7.0, not the more recent Android 7.1.1 version. While Samsung previously indicated that the Galaxy S7 and the S7 edge will skip Android 7.0 Nougat and jump straight to Android 7.1.1, Vodafone Australia recently confirmed it would offer Android 7.0 to its Galaxy S7 owners.
In any case, it would appear that Samsung is making final preparations for the launch of Nougat for its current flagship smartphones with this limited soak test. The company previously launched a closed beta test for the update, which came to a close just before the end of 2016.
If you happen to be one of the very few who got this Nougat soak test for the Galaxy S7, please let us know your impressions in the comments.
