Samsung Pay on the Gear S3 currently not compatible with the Pixel smartphones

There's currently no word on why the service is not available on the Pixel phones. But hopefully, it will hit both devices in the not too distant future.

Samsung Pay, the mobile payment service that turns your smartphone into a wallet, is also supported by the company’s latest Gear S3 smartwatch. About two weeks ago, we reported that Samsung Pay on the Gear S3 smartwatch works with any smartphone with Android 4.4 or above. But we now came across a report that the service is not yet compatible with the popular Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones from Google.

According to a recent tweet, a Google Pixel XL user was trying to set up Samsung Pay on his Gear S3 smartwatch but received the “Installation Failed. Try again.” error. He turned to Samsung Pay for support on Twitter and received an answer stating that the Samsung Pay on the Gear S3 is not available with Pixel devices.

When asked if it will be available in the near future, Samsung Pay replied, “We’re constantly working to expand Samsung Pay to new devices – stay tuned!”

There’s currently no word on why the service is not available on the Gear S3 when paired to a Pixel phone. But hopefully, it will hit both devices in the not too distant future. When exactly might this happen remains a mystery for now. But when it does, we’ll be sure to let you guys know.
