Samsung Galaxy S8 S8 Plus AR Emoji Super Slow Motion update
TL;DR
  • The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus appear set to receive an update with Super Slow Motion video and AR Emoji.
  • Until recently, both features were exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
  • This comes soon after some Samsung Galaxy Note 8 users also reported receiving the update.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus users will receive Super Slow Motion video and AR Emoji features in the next update, according to user reports on Reddit (via XDA Developers). The new camera features are said to come with the September security patch, which numerous Reddit users say they have already received.

The most exciting thing about the two features is that they were both originally exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Plus, and, more recently, the Galaxy Note 9. While reports from earlier this month also suggested that the Galaxy Note 8 would receive the features, this is the first we have heard about them coming to the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

According to the Reddit reports, Super Slow Motion on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus lets users record 720p video at 480fps.

This is less than the Super Slow Motion found on the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus which can record 720p video at 960fps. The Galaxy S8 can already record slow-motion video, but only at 720p and 240fps.

According to the screenshot posted on Reddit, the update is 533.10MB. There have been reports of users receiving the update in Germany, Greece, and the U.S. It often takes time for the update to be rolled out to everyone, however, so you may have to wait a while to receive it.
