TL;DR
  • Samsung is going all in on AI for the Galaxy S24 series.
  • A report says Samsung wants the Galaxy S24 series to be the “smartest AI smartphones ever.”
  • The Galaxy S24 may take features from ChatGPT and Google Bard.

Google recently launched the Pixel 8 series with a host of new AI tools like Magic Editor and AI-generated wallpapers. Not to be outdone, Samsung allegedly wants to stuff the Galaxy S24 series with its own AI tools and one up Google’s offering.

According to SamMobile, an unnamed source has told the publication that Samsung is interested in turning the S24 series into the “smartest AI smartphones ever.” To accomplish this mission, it’s said Samsung may apply features straight from ChatGPT and Google Bard. This may include the ability to “create content and stories” via a user’s input.

In addition, the tech giant could implement a text-to-image feature. However, this would be a feature that’s created in-house instead of lifted from an existing generative AI model.

Samsung’s AI push could also result in a renewed focus on Bixby. Similar to how Amazon is turning to generative AI to make Alexa more conversational, the report says Samsung could be doing the same to make Bixby smarter and more human-like.

The Galaxy S24 series is expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips, which leaks imply the processor will have plenty of AI features. Outside of the US, some regions may get an S24 with an Exynos 2400 SoC. This chip is also said to be capable of boosting AI performance.

We’re still far off from the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, so details are still taking shape. Since this is an unnamed source, you may want to take this report with a grain of salt. We won’t know anything for sure until Samsung holds its next Unpacked event.
