The Galaxy S23 series is off to an encouraging start
- The Galaxy S23 series has reportedly broken a pre-sales record in Korea.
- Samsung has also reported twice as many pre-sales in India compared to the S22 series.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 series earlier this month, bringing three devices that were mostly iterative upgrades over the Galaxy S22 range. Still, it looks like the new phones are delivering impressive pre-order results in at least two markets.
Chosun Biz reports that the Galaxy S23 range broke the record for Galaxy S series pre-sales in Korea. More specifically, the Galaxy S23 series reportedly achieved 1.09 million pre-sales in the market compared to 1.01 million pre-sales for the S22 series a year ago.
The outlet also reports that the Galaxy S23 Ultra was the most popular model during this period, accounting for 60% of pre-sales (or 650,000 units) in the region. This was followed by the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus respectively.
Samsung turns the wick up in India
The S23 range’s pre-order performance wasn’t restricted to its home market either. ET Telecom reported last week that the Galaxy S23 series achieved twice as many pre-orders as the Galaxy S22 series in India within the first 24 hours of pre-orders.
“We have received almost 1,40,000 pre-books of the Galaxy S23 series within the first 24 hours of opening up pre-bookings,” Samsung India senior vice president Raju Pullan was quoted as saying.
We’re curious to see whether Samsung is able to maintain its Indian pre-order performance across the entire pre-sale period. We’re also interested in seeing whether the strong pre-sales performance in both countries is reflected in other markets and in final sales figures.
