A few days ago, T-Mobile announced on Twitter that it had formally approved the Android 9 Pie update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Now it appears that software update is rolling out to all T-Mobile-branded variants of the handset (via SamMobile).

As one would expect, this is a phased rollout, so don’t get too upset if you don’t see the update right this second. Just to be sure, you can go to Settings > Software update > Download updates manually and do a manual check.

Once you do get the update — which brings firmware version N960U1UEU1CSB3 — you’ll have all the latest Android 9 Pie features, such as adaptive battery, as well as a completely new user experience with One UI, Samsung’s new Android skin. One UI makes navigation much easier by keeping icons and switches nearer to the bottom of the display and brings a simpler, more elegant look overall.

With this T-Mobile update, that leaves only the unlocked and Verizon-branded variants of the Note 9 as still missing the Pie upgrade.

While all eyes are currently on the Samsung Galaxy S10 as far as flagship phones go, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is still a top-of-the-line device. With Android 9 Pie onboard, the phone will easily hold its own against newer devices.
