TL;DR
  • Samsung has accidentally teased the Galaxy A82 5G.
  • It’s rumored to be the international version of South Korea’s Galaxy Quantum 2.
  • You might get a Snapdragon 855 Plus, a 120Hz display, and a 64MP main camera.

Were you thrilled by the Galaxy A72’s large screen, but disappointed by the 90Hz screen and lack of 5G? You might get the phone you wanted all along. Android Central reports that Samsung has inadvertently teased a Galaxy A82 5G (not yet pictured) on a security updates page.

There aren’t any technical details for the phone. However, rumors have suggested the Galaxy A82 5G may be the international version of South Korea’s recently released Galaxy Quantum 2. If so, you’ll get a 6.7-inch, 120Hz display, a 64MP main camera, and (oddly enough) the aging but still capable Snapdragon 855 Plus. It would be as close as the A series gets to not-quite-flagship phones like the Galaxy S20 FE.

The Quantum 2 also has a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro cam, and a healthy 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast wired charging. It wouldn’t be surprising if these carried over to the Galaxy A82 5G, although we wouldn’t rule out some differences.

It’s not certain if or when the Galaxy A82 will ship, or what price it would carry. It might be one of Samsung’s most important phones of the year when it arrives, though. Samsung warned that chip shortages might affect its device sales in the second quarter of the year — a phone with a 2018-era processor could keep business humming by making the most of available parts.
