- In a first, Samsung brings its Certified Re-Newed Galaxy phones to Amazon.
- The lineup includes the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 series and starts at $489.
- With seven years of updates guaranteed, buying an older Galaxy phone isn’t a big risk for consumers.
As the memory shortage leads to increased prices for phones in all price ranges, owning a flagship model has become even more out of reach for many. Yet, buying a flagship that’s been refurbished, particularly by the original manufacturer, can be a smart move. Today, Samsung has made that easier to do for fans of its Galaxy series with a partnership that brings its Certified Re-Newed program phones to Amazon.
Samsung announced a lineup of Galaxy phones that it is now selling on Amazon, starting at $489. Just like the refurbished phones it sells on its own site, the phones have been repaired by Samsung specialists with Samsung parts and have new batteries. They’re also backed by a one-year limited warranty and are eligible for Samsung Care+.
The Samsung refurbished phones that are available on Amazon are:
- Galaxy S24 FE, 128GB, Graphite ($489)
- Galaxy S24 FE, 256GB, Graphite ($519)
- Galaxy S24, 128GB, Onyx Black ($519)
- Galaxy S24, 256GB, Onyx Black ($549)
- Galaxy S24+, 256GB, Onyx Black ($649)
- Galaxy S24+, 512GB, Onyx Black ($699)
- Galaxy S24 Ultra, 256GB, Titanium Black ($849)
- Galaxy S24 Ultra, 512 GB, Titanium Black ($899)
- Galaxy S25, 128GB, Silver Shadow ($599)
- Galaxy S25, 256GB, Silver Shadow ($629)
- Galaxy S25+, 256GB, Silver Shadow ($749)
- Galaxy S25+, 512GB, Silver Shadow ($799)
- Galaxy S25 Ultra, 256GB, Titanium Black ($979)
- Galaxy S25 Ultra, 512GB, Titanium Black ($1,029)
While the Galaxy 26 series joined the Certified Re-Newed lineup last month, it’s not yet available on Amazon. Similarly, we’re not seeing any of Samsung’s refurbished foldables on Amazon.
Since Samsung guarantees seven years of updates for its flagship models, buying a phone that’s a couple of years past its launch doesn’t necessarily mean that buyers will miss out on major features. The Galaxy S24 series, which is among the phones offered on Amazon, received an update in September that brought it some of the upgrades from the extremely popular Z Fold 8.
For most standard phone use, the difference a consumer will feel in using a device with a processor that’s a year or two out from production shouldnot be too noticeable. The battery is the thing that faces the most degradation over time, and Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed phones get new ones. Overall, a flagship phone refurbished by a manufacturer is arguably a better longer-term bet than buying a new but budget phone for the same price.
The move to expand its refurbished program makes sense for Samsung as it reportedly drastically cut production of new phones because of a sharp decrease in profitability caused by the RAM crisis.
