Smartphones are pretty complicated gadgets, as the small size and cutting-edge tech means production can be more challenging than many other electronics and appliances. So we can understand if a few defective handsets sometimes slip through the cracks.

Have you had to return a defective phone, though? That’s the question we’re asking in our featured poll article today, so tap a choice below and leave a comment if you’ve got more to share.

Just to be clear, we aren’t talking about minor issues like the phone running a little warmer than expected or the fingerprint scanner occasionally having errors. These things happen on many phones today.

Instead, we’re talking about major defects here. These issues can include dead pixels or major screen tinting, seriously abnormal heating, the device catching fire or smoking, consistently horrible battery life, poor connectivity, cameras not working properly (if at all), extremely slow/buggy software, or terrible build quality.
