This 10,000mAh phone costs $500 and is available globally

We’ve seen phones with huge batteries in the last 12 months, culminating in devices with ~10,000mAh batteries. This includes the HONOR Win series, HONOR Power 2, and realme P4 Power. Getting your hands on some of these phones might be a problem due to limited availability, but the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has now arrived in global markets with a 10,000mAh battery.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max indeed stands out thanks to its absolutely enormous 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery (16% silicon content). This means it’s quite possibly the most widely available 10,000mAh phone on the market. In saying so, European users get downgraded to a still-impressive 9,210mAh battery. Either way, the company promises 1,600 charging cycles before the battery reaches 80% capacity. It also says you can expect up to three days of usage.

Once your battery has conked out, you can use 100W wired charging to quickly get up to speed. The company says a 20-minute charge should still deliver all-day battery life. It adds that a 100% charge should take 80 minutes. You can also charge other devices with 27W reverse wired charging. Just don’t expect wireless charging here.

Xiaomi is also claiming impressive durability. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has IP68/IP69/IP69K ratings along with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front. In fact, Xiaomi says the phone has SGS certification for three-meter drop resistance onto a “smooth” granite surface.

What about the core specs, though? Well, we see a notable downgrade on paper compared to the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max ships with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip that’s theoretically worse than the Pro Plus’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. The base model also ships in an 8GB/128GB configuration compared to 8GB/256GB back in January.

Another notable change is the shift to a 50MP+8MP rear camera system compared to the Pro Plus’s 200MP+8MP setup. More megapixels aren’t always better, but that 200MP sensor enables higher-quality zoom at a lossless resolution. So don’t be surprised if the Pro Max takes low-quality 3x and 4x shots. A 32MP camera is available on the front for selfies.

Other noteworthy Redmi Note 17 Pro Max specs include a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED screen (3,500 nits peak brightness), Bluetooth 6.0, dual speakers, eSIM support, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and Wi-Fi 6.

The Cloud Blush option, in particular, is a photochromic option that goes from “cloud white to warm pink-orange” under sunlight. The phone will be available in most major regions, including Europe, India, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Unsurprisingly, the phone will skip the US.

This isn’t the only new phone Xiaomi revealed on the day, as it also unveiled the Redmi Note 17 Pro. Expect the same screen, rear cameras, and IP rating, but a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, 6GB to 8GB of RAM, and an 8,340mAh battery with 67W wired speeds. The Redmi Note 17 Pro starts at $399 for the 6GB/128GB model.
