Will it have a periscope camera, telephoto sensor, or something else to deliver better zoom capabilities?

We already know that the Redmi K30 Pro is coming, owing to the Xiaomi sub-brand’s own confirmation and several leaks. But it looks like the new Redmi flagship will be joined by a special variant.

XDA member kacskrz combed through the latest MIUI 11 China developer ROM, and discovered references to the Redmi K30 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition. This is the first time we hear about the latter device, but we don’t have anything else to go on.

The name obviously suggests that the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition will have better zoom capabilities than the standard K30 Pro model. If the K30 Pro is simply offering the Redmi K30‘s rear camera setup, then that means it won’t have a telephoto camera. So the K30 Pro Zoom Edition could earn its name by simply offering a standard telephoto camera.

Then again, it’s possible the K30 Pro does indeed offer a telephoto camera. So that means the Zoom Edition could likely have a periscope camera, a more impressive telephoto camera, or other zoom enhancements to make it stand out.

The XDA member also spotted references to a Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 10X 4G. The former device was expected anyway, and Redmi India has just started teasing its arrival on Twitter.

We haven’t heard anything at all about the Redmi 10X 4G though, although it wouldn’t be the first time we see a Redmi X device. The company previously launched the Redmi 4X in 2017, being a variant of the low-end Redmi 4. Then again, XDA notes that we haven’t even seen a Redmi 9 yet, so a Redmi 10 variant seems awfully early.

It’s also worth noting the “4G” bit in the Redmi 10X 4G name, suggesting that a 5G variant could be in the works as well. Either way, it looks like the Xiaomi sub-brand has quite a few phones to show in the coming days and weeks.
