Update, September 19 2019 (2:28AM ET): The Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Premium Edition is now available in China, and it’s packing a power boost over the regular Redmi K20 Pro model.

The upgraded phone delivers a Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, 8GB to 12GB of RAM, and 128GB or 512GB of storage. By comparison, the regular device has a standard Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6GB to 8GB of RAM, and 128GB to 256GB of storage in China.

The Redmi K20 Pro Premium Edition is priced at 2,699 yuan (~$381) for the 8GB/128GB model, 2,999 yuan (~$423) for the 8GB/512GB variant, and 3,199 yuan (~$452) for the 12GB/512GB option.

Meanwhile, the regular Redmi K20 Pro starts at 2299 yuan (~$325) for the 6GB/128GB variant in China, all the way up to 2,699 yuan for the 8GB/256GB version (~$381). So if storage space is more important than an incremental power boost, the latter model is still worth a look.

The company told Android Authority that it didn’t have plans to launch the device outside of China “at the moment.” In the meantime, you can check out the Chinese store listing via the button below

Original article, September 17 2019 (9PM ET): It’s only been a handful of months since Redmi announced the Redmi K20 Pro, but the Xiaomi sub-brand announced today it will replace the phone with the Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition.

According to Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing, the sub-brand will announce the phone September 19. He also hinted at the Exclusive Edition’s Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. Relative to the regular Snapdragon 855, the Snapdragon 855 Plus features a slightly-overclocked CPU and a GPU with a 15% performance boost.

Also, the teaser poster on Weibo mentioned an improved cooling system and better durability. Finally, the phone might include up to 12GB of RAM.

The Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition is different from the Redmi K20 Pro Signature Edition, which features a solid gold back and diamond logo. It also sports an stratospheric price tag of Rs. 480,000 (~$6,714) to match the high-end materials.

The rest of the Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition might remain the same as the Redmi K20 Pro. That means a 6.39-inch FHD+ OLED display, an in-display fingerprint scanner, a rear triple camera system, the Snapdragon 855 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery.
