Redmi India to launch new phone next week: Could it be Redmi 9A?

Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand has been teasing a new phone launch for a few days now, and we’ve finally got some more details.

The company has confirmed that it will launch a new phone on February 11, 2020 in India, while also giving us a few specs at the same time.

Redmi’s teaser website for the event confirms that the upcoming phone will pack a 5,000mAh battery and dual rear cameras. The firm is also teasing a textured pattern on the rear cover for a better grip.

We previously saw a grippy rear cover and 5,000mAh battery on the Redmi 8A, but it didn’t have a dual rear camera setup. So it stands to reason that this upcoming device could be the Redmi 9A.

Meanwhile, the website also notes that a new device category will be present at the event, and Xiaomi global vice-president Manu Jain has confirmed there will be two surprises as well. An earlier video from the Redmi India Twitter account (seen above) suggests that it might be a Redmi-branded USB-C power bank.
