TL;DR
  • realme is launching its 5G version of its 7 phone in the UK.
  • It’s billed as the most affordable 5G phone in Europe at £279, or £229 in a Black Friday sale.
  • The Buds Air Pro and Watch S are also coming to the country.

You might not have to spend a lot to get a 5G phone in the UK. realme has released its 5G version of the 7 in the country, and it’s reportedly the most affordable 5G phone in Europe.

The upgraded phone is available now for £279 (about $370), or £229 during a Black Friday sale running from November 27 through November 30. That’s considerably more than the base 7, but you’re also getting a smoother 120Hz display (versus 90Hz) as well as an upgraded MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset that brings dual 5G SIM support.

It’s a familiar device beyond those upgrades. The realme 7 5G revolves around a 6.5-inch 1080p display and includes 6GB of RAM along with 128GB of expandable storage. You also get a 48MP f/1.8 main camera along with an 8MP f/2.3 ultra-wide, a 2MP f/2.4 macro and a 2MP f/2.4 black-and-white portrait cam.

You still get a 5,000mAh battery despite the addition of potentially power-hungry 5G, although the 30W fast wired charging helps compensate by getting you to a 50% charge in 26 minutes.

Two other devices are coming to the UK for the first time. realme’s Buds Air Pro are true wireless earbuds with an AirPods-like design and active noise cancellation for £80 (roughly $106). These go on sale December 3. And if you want a low-cost smartwatch, the £75 ($100) realme Watch S (above) offers heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring, and IP68 water resistance framed by a round 1.3-inch display. It also goes on sale December 3 and will support the iPhone for the first time in addition to Android.
