Pixel phones are now getting a Harry Potter ad disguised as a theme pack

We’ve known since April that Google was working on Harry Potter theme packs for Pixel phones. Then the company accidentally teased these theme packs on the Pixel 11 phones. Fortunately for people who can separate art from the artist, these themes are now available as part of the September 2026 Pixel Drop.

Google has announced that Harry Potter Audiobook Packs are now available to download on Pixel phones. This new theme pack celebrates the release of Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions on Audible. Google says one tap lets you change your “wallpaper, icons, and sounds with elements from the audiobooks.”

The Harry Potter Audiobook Packs are available on Pixel 6 devices and newer until December 31. Don’t care about this theme pack? Well, the search giant adds that all eligible Pixel users will also receive a free two-month Audible trial. This free trial expires on January 24, 2027, and is only available in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, Japan, and Australia.

In any event, I can understand why you might want to give this latest Pixel theme pack a miss. The cynic in me can’t help but feel that Pixel theme packs are just glorified ads disguised as a cool new feature. And that’s before we get into the Harry Potter author. Thankfully, this latest Pixel Drop also brings expanded Scam Detection in Messages, improved Pixel VIPs functionality, and a couple of Pixel Watch improvements.
