The December 2019 update has landed on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a devices this week, bringing a variety of fixes as well as Live Caption support. Unfortunately, it seems like it’s also brought a rather nasty bug.

According to users on the GooglePixel subreddit (h/t: Android Police), the December 2019 update has apparently caused the Pixel Launcher to constantly crash. This Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a bug renders the phone virtually unusable as the crash dialog appears on-screen all the time.

The problem seems to affect some users who installed the update and have gesture navigation enabled, as well as some people with the Pixel 4 launcher.

Redditors report that uninstalling the Pixel Launcher on the Play Store, using ADB commands to revert to an old version, or visiting app information and then uninstalling the update works for them. But some have also resorted to a hard-reset to get things working again.

Have you encountered this Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a bug? Let us know what fix worked for you! Hopefully the Pixel 4 series doesn’t have this problem when the December 2019 update lands next week.
