TL;DR
  • OnePlus is offering a newly-improved trade-in program to help subsidize the price of the OnePlus 6.
  • If you trade in a OnePlus device, you get a little bonus value until the end of May.
  • The trade-in program is only open to Europe at the moment.

The OnePlus 6 launches next week, and the company is gearing up for the event. Today, OnePlus announced a newly-improved trade-in program to help you subsidize the price of the OnePlus 6, which is likely to be the most expensive OnePlus device yet.

Using the trade-in program, you can earn a voucher from turning over any smartphone or tablet from virtually any brand. However, higher trade-in values will be given to Samsung, Apple, Sony, Huawei, and Google devices.

As an added bonus, customers who trade-in a OnePlus 3 or newer OnePlus device get a little extra added to their trade-in value. This special bonus promotion only lasts until the end of the month.

Unfortunately, the trade-in program is only available to European residents using one of three currencies: the euro, the Swedish krona, or the British pound. American, Indian, Chinese, and other global customers are not eligible for the trade-in program.

To trade-in your device, you’ll need to tell OnePlus what device you have and the condition that it’s in. After you answer the questionnaire, you’ll be given a price for that device. You package it up and send it to OnePlus, and then receive a voucher to apply that trade-in value to the cost of a new OnePlus 6.

You can also wait to buy your OnePlus 6 first and then send in your old phone to get cash back. However, it is not clear how the money is transferred back to you, as the program is not open until the OnePlus 6 is available. You can trade-in your old device now, however.

However, like most trade-in programs, you won’t make as much money trading in your device as you would selling it on your own. For example, a good-condition OnePlus 3 trade-in will net you £148, while OnePlus 3 units in “fair condition” are selling on Swappa.com for £100 more.

You can read more about the trade-in program at OnePlus’ trade-in page.
