OPPO and OnePlus‘ closer relationship is a story that likely won’t go away anytime soon. The recently announced closer integration between the two firms throws up more questions than answers, and that’s leaving many OnePlus fans worried about the future of the brand.

While there are positives and negatives, we wanted to know what you think of the partnership. Here’s what you told us.

What do you think of OnePlus getting even closer to OPPO?

Results

With over 49% of the ~2,500 votes, most polled Android Authority readers “hate” the idea of OnePlus getting closer to OPPO. However, not everyone is outright dismissive of the idea. Just under 40% of respondents are “on the fence” waiting to see how the integration plays out.

Some readers do like the news, though. Around 12% of voters say they “like” the prospect of the two brands working more closely together.

Here’s what you told us

  • Rahil Sayed: This merger would be the end of OnePlus. I am astonished to see votings even getting 12% support for the merger. It must be straight 0%.
  • Wongwatt: If the global models retain Oxygen as it is that’s surely bad news, the latest updates have been slow and unstable. OnePlus had already announced that they were abandoning Hydrogen for China and installing ColorOS, if this is a new announcement it must mean that more markets will see ColorOS installed. You cannot improve the stability of Oxygen through integration unless you use the better ColorOS codebase which leaves you with just the about page being changed to say Oxygen… The whole policy of competing against yourself by providing several phones with slightly different, and therefore compromised, specifications is stupid. Just build the best phones you can and call them OnePlus where that is the known brand and OPPO elsewhere, simple and saves development money.
  • Artus_2021: Reduce the number of releases each year… Get rid of the T series! Launch phones once a year or staggered release for the Nord. Flagship in October, and Nord 6 months after that! That’s it. No need for T series again.
  • Flashes: “Faster, more stable updates.” Bruh, OPPO phones are notorious for being poorly supported. Most of their phones get 1/2 android updates at the maximum.
