Leaked slide hints at full OnePlus Nord specs
- Leaker Evan Blass shared a slide with all of the OnePlus Nord’s specs.
- Most of the specs align with past reports and rumors.
Leading up to the OnePlus Nord’s announcement later this month, we’ve had hints here and there about what kind of components it will include. But now we have a seemingly complete spec sheet courtesy of perennial leaker Evan Blass that details the phone in full. He said it came from a tipster who took part in a virtual training session but was also quick to point out it may not be accurate. “Let the debunking begin,” he said.
Said by a tipster to come from a virtual Nord training presentation, this lines up quite well with what we already know (save for the phone imagery, which is an obvious placeholder). Let the debunking begin! pic.twitter.com/pA5N4oxJOF— Evan Blass (@evleaks) July 9, 2020
According to the slide, OnePlus’ first Nord phone will feature a Snapdragon 765G processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage to start. It looks like OnePlus will also offer the option to configure the phone with more RAM and storage. Most of the reports published before this slide came out said the OnePlus Nord would feature 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. So the fact it may now include as much RAM as the OnePlus 8 Pro seems almost too good to be true. OnePlus has done strange things in the past, but 8GB of RAM to start doesn’t seem realistic for a phone co-founder Pete Lau said would cost less than $500.
The three models listed on the slide — Blue Marble, Gray Onyx, and Gray Ash — neatly correspond with the colors OnePlus has teased in the past. However, if you’ve been following the Nord rumor mill closely, you’ll notice there’s no mention of a teal hue. The color has been a big part of the OnePlus’ Nord marketing push, so its absence could mean a variety of things. One possibility is that the company may release a teal-colored model later like it did the Almond variant of the OnePlus 7 Pro.
Moving to the camera section of the slide, there aren’t many surprises to be found. We already knew from two separate reports the OnePlus Nord would feature four rear-facing cameras and two front-facing cameras. What’s new here are all the lens apertures for the phone’s various cameras. For the most part, they seem like standard fare. However, one interesting tidbit is the f/1.75 lens the slide says comes attached to the primary 48MP sensor.
If the slide is accurate, then the lens is slightly faster than the f/1.8 glass the OnePlus 8 Pro features in front of its primary camera. On the subject of sensors, the Sony IMX 586 listed on the slide made its way into various phones last year, including the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T. When we reviewed the 7T earlier this year, we found the IMX 586 produced pleasing photos with the right amount of sharpening, saturation, and contrast.
Maybe the most surprising part of the slide is the battery listed as having a 4,115mAh capacity. We’ve been expecting the Nord to ship with a power supply in the 4,300mAh range. The fact the phone will feature a 5G modem built into its processor and is likely to help with battery life, but we’ll have to see how it performs in day-to-day use.
With OnePlus set to detail the Nord on July 21, we won’t have to wait much longer to see the official spec sheet. Until then, keep an eye on our rumor roundup for all the latest information on the upcoming phone.
