TL;DR
  • A frequent tipster has claimed that a OnePlus foldable is launching in Q3.
  • This is in line with a previous tease by OnePlus.
  • The device apparently has a higher resolution screen than the Oppo Find N2.

OnePlus used the OnePlus 11 global launch to tease the arrival of a foldable phone in Q3. Now, a veteran leaker has dished out a couple of details regarding the upcoming device.

Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has claimed that the first OnePlus foldable is indeed coming in Q3 2023. In other words, you might need to wait until July at the earliest to buy the new device. Check out the machine-translated post below.

However, the leaker also asserted that a prototype version of the device has a large screen with a 2K display resolution. This suggests we’re indeed looking at a Galaxy Z Fold-style foldable.

The 2K resolution claim also points to the new OnePlus foldable not necessarily being a rebranded Oppo Find N2. The Oppo foldable is equipped with a 1,792 x 1,920 folding screen which is more in line with FHD+ resolution than a 2K display.

Then again, it’s possible this foldable still shares plenty of DNA with Oppo’s foldable in other areas if it’s indeed got a higher resolution screen. Nevertheless, we’ve likely got a while to wait until we get our first official look at the new device.
