The OPPO Find N instantly attracted attention upon its reveal earlier this year, showing a more compact take on the Galaxy Fold-style form factor. Now, OPPO has returned with a sequel, while also launching a brand-new foldable.

The OPPO Find N2 is a follow-up to the Find N as you’d expect, bringing a number of design-related improvements for starters. OPPO said the new foldable weighs 43 grams less than the original Find N, and was actually slightly lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The firm also claimed that the Find N2 is 1.3mm thinner than the original device when opened.

The Chinese brand has also reduced the number of parts for the hinge from 138 to 100. Furthermore, the hinge now allows the Find N2 to offer a Flex Mode-style feature dubbed FlexForm Mode, holding position when the device is open between 45 and 125 degrees. OPPO adds that the foldable phone’s display has been tested to 400,000 folds.

Otherwise, the Find N2 offers a similarly stubby design as the original model, making it smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Expect a 5.54-inch 120Hz smartphone display (2,120 x 1,080, 17.7:9) on the outside and a 7.1-inch 120Hz folding screen (1,972 x 1,980, LTPO) on the inside. OPPO claims the crease on the folding display has been reduced by 67% compared to the original Find N and that you’ve got an anti-reflective coating on board too.

Interestingly, OPPO’s foldable follows in Samsung’s footsteps by offering support for an optional OPPO Pen stylus. So those who value handwriting/note-taking and drawing might want to get this accessory with the Find N2 as well.

What else does the Find N2 offer?

Take a peek under the hood and you’ll find a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC here instead of the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This is still a powerful chipset, though, so you shouldn’t have any trouble with running demanding games and apps.

Oppo’s new foldable also packs a 4,520mAh battery and 67W wired charging. The latter is capable of a 100% charge in a claimed 42 minutes. Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging on this device.

The Find N2 packs a pretty solid camera system too, delivering a 50MP main camera (IMX890, OIS, 24mm), a 48MP ultrawide shooter (IMX581, 14mm), and a 32MP 2x telephoto camera (IMX709). The latter camera has an RGBW color filter too, with OPPO saying this should result in a 60% improvement to light sensitivity and 35% reduction in noise. Expect a 32MP camera on each screen for selfies and video calls.

Other camera-related features include a custom MariSilicon X imaging chip for improved 4K low-light and 4K HDR videos, Hasselblad XPan mode, a Hasselblad-branded pro/manual mode, and support for the FlexForm Mode.

Other specs and features worth mentioning include Bluetooth 5.3, Color OS 13 atop Android 13, dual speakers, Gorilla Glass Victus on the smartphone screen, a side fingerprint scanner, and Wi-Fi 6. Interestingly, OPPO’s foldable also has support for an optional OPPO Pen stylus.

The Chinese manufacturer also showed off its first clamshell foldable, dubbed the OPPO Find N2 Flip. True to leaks, the Flip’s defining feature is its 3.26-inch cover display, dwarfing the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s external screen. You’re also getting a 6.8-inch 120Hz foldable screen on board here, with OPPO saying the display has a reduced crease.

OPPO also confirmed a few more details, such as a Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset, MariSilicon X imaging chip, 4,300mAh battery, 44W wired charging, and a second-generation hinge. You’re also getting a 50MP main camera here and an 8MP ultrawide rear shooter. Otherwise, a 32MP selfie shooter is available on the foldable screen for video calls.

The Find N2 Flip also gains a couple of Z Flip-style camera features. For one, the 50MP main camera can be used for selfies when paired with the cover screen. Your subjects can also use the external display as a preview window when they’re being snapped by you.

Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.3, Color OS 13 atop Android 13, dual speakers, a side fingerprint scanner, and Wi-Fi 6.

The Find N2 is available in a base 12GB/256GB model in China for 7,999 yuan ($1,147), as well as a 16GB/512GB variant for 8,999 yuan ($1,290). Pricing wasn’t announced at the time of publication. Hoping to buy it in your neck of the woods though? Well, OPPO told journalists at a pre-briefing that a global launch is still under discussion. Nevertheless, the device will be available in Black, Green, and White color options, with the former option having a pleather back.

Meanwhile, the Find N2 Flip starts at 5,999 yuan (~$860) for the base 8GB/256GB model, all the way up to 6,999 yuan (~$1,004) for the 16GB/512GB option. OPPO confirmed to journalists that a global Find N2 Flip launch is on the cards, but didn’t dish out a specific launch window. We’re guessing that the phone will have a global launch at CES 2023 or MWC 2023.
