There's now a OnePlus 9 'Gift Bundle' but you'll have to buy it

OnePlus has a very odd offer for potential buyers of the OnePlus 9 series. The company will start offering up a OnePlus 9 gift bundle starting March 17, but if you’re interested in getting it, you’ll have to buy it. So how is it a “gift” you ask?

Well, the company will give you a chance to get your money back when you buy a OnePlus 9 series phone.

The gift bundle will pack a OnePlus Urban Traveler Backpack, a bucket hat, and a OnePlus 9 Series phone voucher worth Rs 4,000 (~$55) in India and €40 (~$47) in Europe. The gift bundle itself will cost Rs 4,000 in India and €32 (~$38) in Europe. The offer isn’t available in the US as of writing this article.

So essentially, you’ll be making your money back if you buy this OnePlus 9 gift bundle because you also get a OnePlus 9 discount coupon with it. However, if you are hoping to use this coupon to pre-book the flagship, which the company claims goes on pre-order starting March 23, you would be out of luck.

OnePlus says that the discount coupon can only be redeemed during open sales. This means you’ll have to wait for the phones to become available more widely if you want to take advantage of the discount.

So if you’re a big OnePlus fan and imagine yourself walking down the street wearing a OnePlus-branded bucket hat, by all means, go for this gift bundle. If not, you can save your money and just get the OnePlus 9 upfront.
