Update, July 11: As expected, the OnePlus 3 is now £329 in the UK.

Original post, July 5: UK’s Brexit vote opened a Pandora box of problems and perils, but few could predict the impact the vote would have on tech startups doing business in the country.

OnePlus already announced it would be forced to increase the price of the OnePlus 3 in the UK, and now we know how large the hike will be.

Starting July 11 (next Monday), the OnePlus 3 will cost £329. That’s £20 more than the current price of the device. The price increase only applies to the device itself. Accessories won’t be affected, so for instance, the protective cases will still cost £19.99.

Here’s how a company rep explained the move on the OnePlus forums:

“While we’ve held off action for as long as we can, the sharp drop witnessed in the currency markets following the Brexit decision has forced us to re-evaluate the OnePlus 3’s pricing in the UK at a time of significant demand.”

The £20 increase is about 6% of the original price. For comparison, the pound lost around 10% of its pre-referendum value compared to the dollar, the de facto currency of the consumer electronics industry.

The OnePlus 3 will continue to be available for £309 until Monday, so you may want to make up your mind fast if you’re interested in buying the device.

On the flipside, the OnePlus 3 just received a major update that addresses some of the pain points that reviewers and early adopters encountered. The Oxygen OS 3.20 update adds sRGB mode (for users who prefer more muted colors), improves the RAM management, and brings fixes related to the GPS, magnetic sensor, notifications, and more.
