Update (7/26): As promised, the Soft Gold variant of the OnePlus 3 is now available in the U.S. for $399. If you're interested in picking one up for yourself, head to OnePlus' website for more details.

Original post (7/25): The OnePlus 3 is one of the best Android phones on the market, but despite the great specs, the phone has only been available in graphite so far. There have been rumors of other color – notably red and gold – and the rumors became reality when the OnePlus boss finally tweeted confirming that the new color may come in the second half of July.

Like most other phone companies, they are not going with the word ‘gold’ and instead are calling it ‘Soft Gold’, with the promise of softened texture and a toned down shade. The One Plus Soft Gold takes inspiration from the soft and silky touch of sand. According to their press team, the shade is too good for renders, and ‘needs to be seen and heard to be properly appreciated.’

According to their team, the phone will be available around the world on the following dates:

  • USA – July 26, 12:00 pm US Eastern time
  • Europe – August 1, 12:00 pm CEST
  • Hong Kong – August 1, 6:00 pm Hong Kong time
  • Canada – August 1, 6:00 am Canada Eastern time

A launch date for India is yet to be announced but it’s unlikely to be long before the handset is available in that region as well. The Soft Gold is supposed to be limited edition and ss such, OnePlus are advising everyone interested to place an order as soon as possible. Like other phones from the company, the phone will be available from OnePlus.net and having dropped it for the OnePlus 3, it’s unlikely you’ll need an invite to buy it.
