The next OnePlus flagship could be a Pro in all but name

When is a Pro model not a Pro model?

TL;DR
  • OnePlus will apparently call its upcoming flagship phone the OnePlus 11.
  • The phone will purportedly have pro-level specs but ditch the Pro name.

We’ve already seen leaks related to the next OnePlus flagship phone, widely believed to be the OnePlus 11 Pro. We even got unofficial renders showing the upcoming handset in all its glory.

Now, leaker Max Jambor has claimed that this upcoming device is simply called the OnePlus 11. He reiterated in a follow-up tweet that this phone will have Pro specs but that they’re not calling it the OnePlus 11 Pro.

For what it’s worth, leaked specs suggest that this handset will indeed be a follow-up to the OnePlus 10 Pro. The phone is tipped to arrive with a 6.7-inch QHD+ OLED screen, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, a 5,000mAh battery, and 100W wired charging.

The supposed OnePlus 11 is also slated to offer a Hasselblad-tuned triple rear camera system, consisting of a 50MP main camera, 48MP ultrawide lens, and 32MP 2x telephoto shooter.

This name change would raise several questions if confirmed. Will this so-called OnePlus 11 still have Pro-level pricing? Does this mean the company will offer a OnePlus 11 Pro model later in 2023, with more impressive specs? What does this mean for the company’s affordable flagship offerings? We’ll just have to wait for more leaks and the company’s own disclosures for these questions and more to be answered.
