TL;DR
  • OnePlus 10T is reportedly codenamed Ovaltine.
  • It may not carry the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
  • It could be a MediaTek flagship or even one with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip.

We still haven’t seen a vanilla OnePlus 10, even though one has been rumored for a while now. However, we’re hearing about the so-called OnePlus 10T again, suggesting that it may be the company’s next flagship device.

Tipster Max Jambor tweeted yesterday that the OnePlus 10T is codenamed Ovaltine and does not house the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Jambor’s leak directly contradicts leaker Yogesh Brar‘s claims that Ovaltine uses the Qualcomm silicon.

Jambor had previously revealed that the OnePlus 10T would be a flagship phone. He even said it would be the only flagship OnePlus plans to launch in 2022 besides the OnePlus 10 Pro. However, Jambor did not explicitly mention that the phone would carry a Qualcomm chip, so It could very well be a flagship device with a MediaTek processor at its helm. And there is another leak to support that theory.

In April, Tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer leaked specs of a purported OnePlus 10 model. Hemmerstoffer claimed that OnePlus is testing two processors for the phone — the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9000. The latter was also tipped for a while before Hemmerstoffer’s report.

So from where we’re standing, the OnePlus 10T could pack MediaTek’s flagship SoC or the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip. That said, there’s also talk of a OnePlus 10 Ultra on the horizon. If that’s the case, we could see more than one OnePlus flagship before the year ends.
