Survey says you shouldn't be spooked by Samsung's One UI 9 update
Oct 27, 2026 — 4:45 AM ET

After a lengthy beta period, stable One UI 9 is now rolling out to more Samsung phones. The latest Android skin for Galaxy devices brings plenty of new AI features, a sprinkle of UI updates, and some welcome security improvements. However, as some users have discovered, the early builds have also come with their fair share of issues.
This includes minor issues, from icon bugs to more serious problems, such as a post-update “access denied” error that prevents users from operating their devices.
New software will almost always arrive with unforeseen problems, but have you encountered any since upgrading to One UI 9? It’s a question we recently asked our readers in a poll, and the results are below.

This survey received over 1,500 votes, and it appears that One UI 9 bugs are not the norm. About 37% of voters say the update has caused no issues so far. When we subtract the 31.7% of respondents who haven’t yet received the update, around 54% of users who installed One UI 9 haven’t noted any bugs.
Looking at those who have, 22.3% of the total vote said they’ve “encountered a few” after the update, while 9.1% say these issues are “minor or barely affect functionality.” In total, that’s 31.4% of respondents who have faced a One UI 9 bug or issue.
Are the One UI 9 issues real?

The majority of commenters noted that One UI 9 performed well on their devices, but a few reported negative experiences. Reader kevriveroc writes:
One UI 9.0 introduced microstuttering all throughout the UI on my S24 Ultra. UI animations are janky when first rendered, and then they do remain smooth if the same animation is rendered again in a short time period. It’s infuriating to see an update behave like a downgrade.
Heather Jackson adds:
Since the you UI 9.0 update, I am not getting notification pop-ups. I have checked all the settings, rebooted my phone, checked battery saving mode, etc. And if I’m on my phone at all, even just plugged into Android auto or just listening to music, I don’t get message notifications at all. It’s only been a few days and this is already causing big problems.
Martin Reading notes the update affected their foldable phone usability:
Installing One UI 9 on my Z Fold 7 screwed up the navigation bar by restricting it to either the left or right-hand side of the main screen, whereas in 8.5 and earlier iterations it was spread over the entire width, which is a lot better.
It’s worth noting that most readers who leave comments haven’t experienced any issues on their devices. But these issues do highlight the value of a simple virtue: waiting. Delaying major software updates until a few weeks after release allows unknown bugs to surface.
Of course, if your device installed the update automatically, you don’t have much recourse.
If you own a Samsung phone that recently ticked over to One UI 9, do tell us your experience of the skin thus far. Is it buggy? Is it stable? What do you like or dislike about it most? Drop your thoughts in the comments section.
