TL;DR
  • Two official videos from Samsung show off what to expect from One UI 4.
  • The videos confirm the automatic color matching of Material You is on the way.
  • We don’t know when Samsung will launch the stable version of the software, but it can’t be far off.

All eyes over the past few weeks have been on the launch of Android 12 and the new Google Pixel 6 series. However, we can’t forget that Samsung is testing its own Android 12 launch and it is likely coming soon.

To get you excited, Samsung has posted two videos going over features of One UI 4, which is how the Android 12 update will land on its devices. As one would expect, One UI 4 takes the core features of Android 12 but “Samsung-ifies” them leaving us with a new — but still familiar — Android skin.

The biggest confirmation from the video is that the automatic color-matching tool of Material You is coming to Samsung phones. That means color accents throughout the phone’s interface will match/complement your phone’s wallpaper. This is something we assumed would come to the stable version of One UI 4, but now we know it for certain.

Check out the two videos for yourself below.

When is it coming to phones?

We don’t have any concrete idea of when we’ll see One UI 4 arrive in a stable version on Samsung devices. However, we are relatively certain it would land on the Galaxy S21 series sometime in November or possibly early December. It would also likely come to other 2021 Samsung flagships shortly after it lands on the Galaxy S21 series.

For 2020 flagships, you’ll likely see One UI 4 sometime in early 2022. Mid-rangers and budget models would then see it sometime after that.
