TL;DR
  • A new One UI 3.0 beta update is rolling out now in the United States.
  • The update is for phones in the Galaxy S20 series and is based on Android 11.
  • There are a ton of bug fixes and improvements in this second iteration of the beta program.

Today, Samsung started pushing out the second beta update for One UI 3.0 (via SamMobile). The update is rolling out in the United States right now exclusively to Galaxy S20 phones enrolled in the beta program.

This is the second beta update for the next iteration of Samsung’s Android skin. Based on Android 11, the new One UI will land on all of Samsung’s 2020 and 2019 flagships when it eventually goes stable.

One UI 3.0 beta 2: What’s new

According to SamMobile, the second beta update carries firmware version G98xU1UEU1ZTJG. It’s around 600MB in size and brings with it many bug fixes and feature updates.

The most notable changes in the latest beta are as follows:

  • A fix for a bug that prevented a phone from booting if its storage was full
  • A fix for a bug that caused phones to sometimes reboot when receiving a call
  • Various bug fixes related to Dex, including the one that caused problems when changing fonts

As you would expect, the One UI 3.0 beta 2 also includes the October 2020 Android security patch. This isn’t surprising because that was also included with the first beta.

If you have a Galaxy S20 device in the US and are enrolled in the beta program, you should see the latest One UI 3.0 beta update soon. You can always search for it manually by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
