Nvidia Shield TV Stick Cross SectionsNewegg

Earlier today, we saw a leaked product page at Amazon that gave us our first supposed look at the new Nvidia Shield TV Pro, the 2019 update to its popular media streamer. Now, we have a radically new variant of the Nvidia Shield TV that comes in a stick-like form.

The listing — which first appeared on the Canadian version of Newegg (since removed), as spotted by 9to5Google — shows a device with a similar remote as the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. However, the streamer itself is very small — it might even be smaller than the remote itself. It’s also in a tube shape and includes an Ethernet port.

You can see cross-sections of the device above, and below you can see the streamer and the remote next to each other:

Along with that Ethernet port, there’s also an HDMI port (naturally), a microSD card slot, and a power cable hookup.

Inside, the device appears to run on the same brand new Nvidia Tegra X1 Plus processor, which allegedly delivers 25% faster performance as compared to the previous line of Shield TV streamers.

From the outset, it appears this device will be the entry-level model for the Nvidia Shield TV family. It has the same processor and the same remote, but fewer ports and no added extras. For example, the Shield TV Pro has a Plex Media Server built right into it. whereas it doesn’t appear this one does.

Since the Newegg listing was for Canadian buyers, it only listed a Canadian price: $199 CAD, or about $152. The Nvidia Shield TV Pro listed for $200 on Amazon, so it makes sense that this will be a new cheaper model for people who don’t need all the bells and whistles of the Pro.

The Shield TV Pro had a ship date of October 28, so it stands to reason we’ll see both of these devices (and possibly more) officially announced very soon.
