  • The London-based tech company, Nothing, has unveiled its new Ear Stick earbuds.
  • The new earbuds will come in a unique charging case inspired by “classic cosmetic silhouettes.”
  • Battery specs of the buds have been outed thanks to an FCC listing.

Update: September 27, 2022 (3:22 AM ET): Some specs of the unannounced Nothing Ear Stick have been revealed thanks to an FCC listing.

As per the regulatory filing, the Ear Stick will come with a 350mAh battery case that’s smaller than the 570mAh case of the Nothing Ear 1. The buds themselves have a 36mAh battery each, which is slightly lesser than the 31mAh battery of the Ear 1 buds.

Other information revealed by the FCC listing shows that the Ear Stick will be available in a White colorway. However, there might be more options at launch.

Original article: September 22, 2022 (11:44 AM ET): It’s been a year since London-based tech company, Nothing, entered the earbuds market with its first audio product — the Ear 1. For its next effort in the space, it looks like the company is doing a minor refresh with a brand new stick-like charging case.

Yesterday, attendees of the London Fashion Week show were given a surprise glimpse at Nothing’s new earbuds, branded as the Ear Stick. In addition to its earbuds, the company showed off a new charging case.

Outside of describing the earbuds as “feather-light” and “supremely comfortable,” the tech manufacturer didn’t provide many details about the new buds. However, a leak that came out in June, discovered by Mukul Sharma, showed that the new product remains largely unchanged from a design standpoint. The two biggest differences appear to be two dots at the bottom of the stem and the “Nothing Ear 1” branding has been replaced by “Ear 1 Stick.”

As for the newly designed charging case, Nothing was a little more talkative. The company says that the charging case was designed to be compact and sleek enough to simply glide into pockets. Nothing also states that the charging case design is inspired by “classic cosmetic silhouettes.” This stick-like charging case, which could almost be confused for a cosmetic product, is a big change from the clear square-shaped charging case that came with the Ear 1.

At this moment, there are no details about when the earbuds will launch or what price they will be. However, Nothing has stated that the full product specs and pricing will be revealed at a later date sometime this year.

In our Ear 1 review, we gave the earbuds 4 out of 5 stars. While the multiple noise-cancelling options, fast wireless charging, and comfortable feel were great, we were disappointed by the lack of Bluetooth multipoint, minimal active noise-cancellation, and limited EQ customization.
