All the upcoming consoles from Microsoft and Sony have been announced. Last week, Microsoft detailed the specs of the cheaper Xbox Series S and also disclosed its price alongside the price of the more premium Xbox Series X.

While we await Sony’s PlayStation 5 pricing announcement (likely today), we asked you if you would buy the Xbox Series S at $299 or go for the Xbox Series X priced at $499. We also gave you a third option if you’re a PlayStation fan and asked if you would rather buy one of the two PS5 consoles instead of the new Xbox machines. Here’s what you had to say.

Poll results

Out of the 1,168 votes we received from Android Authority readers on our poll, 41.4% of the respondents said that they would pick up the $299 Xbox Series S console. Meanwhile, 24% of the poll takers said they would instead save up for the Xbox Series X that costs $200 more than the Series S. Unsurprisingly, 34.6% PlayStation enthusiasts said that they would buy the PS5 instead of the Xbox Series S or the Xbox Series X.

In another poll we conducted back in July, when we didn’t know the prices of the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S was still under wraps, 13,690 of AA readers voted, and a majority of them (61.9%) said that they would choose the PS5 over Microsoft’s flagship console.

It looks like the AA audience is more inclined towards the PS5 in general, but we’re sure that the Xbox fan club out there still stands strong. There are also people like me who would probably end up buying both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X just for the sake of having the latest from Sony and Microsoft. Nevertheless, both consoles generations are equally exciting, and we can’t wait to see how Sony prices its machines. The right price could very well see a major shift in momentum and votes.

Here’s what you had to say

Marty: If I were a serious gamer, I’d be all over one of these. But I’m still barely using a PS3 and Xbox 360.

daftrok: 1440p at up to 120Hz. $300 is a fantastic price for a next-gen console at launch. Here is hoping the PS5 digital edition will go for a similar price.

Techngro: Nice price. I hope it comes with enough storage out of the box.

That’s it for these poll results, thank you for voting! What do you make of these results or the next-gen console war in general? Let us know in the comments section.
