- After its soft-launch in late May, MapleStory M is now available in over 140 countries.
- A remake of the original MapleStory, the game features five classes and auto-button functionality.
For some time, I only knew MapleStory as the 15-year-old game my brother threw hundreds of dollars at. Now, I know it as the game that is available for everyone following its soft-launch in several countries in late May.
Available for mobile devices as MapleStory M, the game is a faithful remake of developer Nexon’s 2D MMORPG that first launched in South Korea back in 2003. Display resolutions were woefully low back then, though Nexon made sure to update the sprites for our Full HD and Quad HD mobile displays.
Nexon did not stop there, as MapleStory M also includes auto-battle and auto-quest functionality, character customization, dungeons, pets and mounts, and five classes: Dark Knight, Bow Master, Night Lord, Bishop, and Corsair. Nexon did not say if it will add additional classes in future updates, though players can access plenty of goodies.
Over the next 14 days, those that login and play MapleStory M will get in-game items each day until August 21. Those who pre-registered have until August 21 to claim their pre-registration rewards.
Even streamers can get goodies of their own. Those that have the top five most viewed streams for MapleStory M on Twitch get 2,000 Crystals, pets, and a mount. The next top 10 most viewed streams get 1,000 Crystals, pets, and a mount.
The top five streamers with the highest average concurrent viewership get 500 Crystals, pets, and a mount. The next top 10 get pets and a mount, while those who stream for at least four hours get a mount.
Keep in mind that you must sign up through Nexon’s Gamewisp application for the developer to track your streaming. Also, you must first meet the four-hour minimum streaming requirement if you want a chance at the free goodies.
