How to link Instagram accounts

It’s very common these days for people to have more than one account on a social media platform. Of course, this means logging out of one and logging into another, which can be a bit annoying. Just like Twitter, though, Instagram offers an ‘account switcher’ where you can just tap on the account you want to access and it moves you right over. If you’ve created a new account and are wondering how to switch between them quickly, here’s a guide on linking Instagram accounts, but bear in mind that you can only set it up on the mobile Instagram app.

How to link Instagram accounts

• Open the Instagram app on your device.
• Go to Settings and privacy.
• Scroll down to the Login section and tap Add account.
• If you’ve already got a second account, select the Log into existing account button.
• Tap the Log in button next to the account you want to link. You’ll typically log into that account.

How to create a new linked account

If you don’t have a second account, you can easily create one with these steps:

• Open the Instagram app on your device.
• Go to Settings and privacy.
• Scroll down to the Login section and tap Add account.
• Select Create new account.
• Enter your new username into the prompted box. Don’t stress because you can always change it later.
• Tap Next.

• Tap Continue. Your new account now will be included in your Meta Accounts Center.
• Once again, select Yes, continue to agree to the platform’s policy.
• Tap the Complete sign up button. It will automatically log you into your new account. You can stay in this account or switch back to your old account anytime you prefer.

How to quickly switch Instagram accounts

After linking the accounts, you’ll be able to switch to the other account easily.

• Go to your profile.
• Tap the downward pointing arrow next to your username. You will be taken to your account list.
• Select the account to switch to.

Here you can see all of your Instagram accounts that you have linked together. At a glance, you will see how many new messages, follows, and likes are waiting for you on each account. There is also a shortcut link at the bottom of the menu if you want to link any more accounts.

Additionally, when you post on a linked Instagram account, you will now see a new section on the posting page. You can now instantly cross-post on more than one of your Instagram accounts. This is extremely useful if you are an influencer and you have to put the same image on multiple accounts. This will save some time.
