You told us: Most of you say you would've bought the canceled LG Velvet 2 Pro

Would it have been a commercial success though?

LG made the decision to exit the smartphone business earlier this year, resulting in the firm canceling several phones that were in development. We got a good look at one of these phones, the LG Velvet 2 Pro, earlier this month when a hands-on video surfaced online.

The scuppered phone had a Snapdragon 888 SoC, 120Hz screen, a versatile triple rear camera, and a 4,500mAh battery, making for a handy device on paper. But would you buy this phone if it actually had a commercial launch? That’s what we asked in our poll last week.

Would you have bought the LG Velvet 2 Pro?

Results

We posted the poll on June 23, and it’s accrued over 1,800 votes up until now. The final result? Well, a grand total of 84.4% of the respondents say they would indeed buy the LG Velvet 2 Pro if it received a commercial launch. That’s a major landslide victory for the pro-LG camp.

Just over 15% of voters say they wouldn’t buy the canceled flagship though, and the comments suggest the lack of a headphone port is the main reason to give this a skip. It would indeed be a controversial decision, as almost all LG smartphones bar the LG Wing have included the 3.5mm port.

We also have a few reservations about consumers at large buying the smartphone. After all, LG exited the business precisely because people weren’t buying its devices. So while it may well have been a hit with LG fans and audiophiles, it likely would’ve been a loss-making endeavor nonetheless.

Comments

  • Chad Higgins: I still want to buy a V70.
  • Tim: So would buy this phone, with the upgrades and what would have been some additional accessories……broken dreams.
  • nemesys06: The specs are nice, but it’s missing one thing that made me love my LG devices, headphone jack. They didn’t use your run of the mill jack either, but an ess headphone jack with quad dac. I feel LG biggest problem was identity. They never really stick with one idea over and over again. Line the headphone jack, they should have marketed that, and developed audio software to really take advantage.
  • Tigerex966: No headphone jack or quad dac no sell but looked good. Does it have an SD card. I like the look over the iphone and s21 but I like the Sony better.
  • Brandon Vega: I have the V60 dual screen and although those specs are pretty amazing, I’m very much happy with my V60.
