  • The tablet pairs its media-focused audio with a 12.1-inch 2.5K display, Dolby Vision support, and a rotating kickstand designed for flexible viewing.

Many Android tablets today are trying to be productivity machines, packing in features that blur the line between a tablet and a laptop. Lenovo’s new Tab Plus Gen 2 takes a slightly different route by putting entertainment at the heart of the experience.

The first thing Lenovo is going all-in on is the audio. The Tab Plus Gen 2 packs a JBL nine-unit speaker system with Dolby Atmos support, which is a pretty ambitious setup for a tablet. While most tablets sound good enough for casual viewing, Lenovo is positioning this one as a device that can deliver a more immersive experience when you’re watching movies, catching up on YouTube, or listening to music.

Interestingly, the tablet can also double as a Bluetooth speaker. Instead of playing music directly from the tablet, you can stream audio from your phone and use the Tab Plus Gen 2 much like you would a standalone wireless speaker. This could come in handy if you don’t want separate devices for entertainment around the house.

The display is equally geared toward media consumption. Lenovo has equipped the tablet with a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD panel that supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. Combined with a high-brightness mode that reaches 800 nits, the screen should remain comfortable to use whether you’re watching videos indoors or catching up on a show near a bright window.

One of the more practical features is its rotating kickstand. It lets you prop the tablet up in both landscape and portrait orientations without needing a separate case or accessory. Whether you’re following a recipe while cooking, scrolling through social media, attending a video call, or watching your favorite comfort show in bed, the stand makes it easy to find a viewing angle that works.

And when you’re not actively using it, Lenovo’s standby mode turns the tablet into a digital photo frame. This gives the device a purpose instead of simply leaving it on a table.

Under the hood, the Tab Plus Gen 2 is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 processor and backed by a 10,200mAh battery. Lenovo claims it can deliver up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming on a single charge, while 45W fast charging should help reduce downtime when the battery eventually runs low.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is set to launch in select global markets soon with a starting price of $399.99. While many tablets try to be productivity machines first, Lenovo’s latest offering feels focused on being an entertainment device that can handle all the fun parts.
