TL;DR
  • The Lenovo Mirage Solo is a standalone VR headset that supports Google Daydream VR.
  • The Lenovo Mirage Camera is a point-and-shoot, 180-degree image and video camera.
  • The Solo starts at $399, the Camera at $299, and there’s a bundle deal right now for both at $649.

Hot on the heels of the release of the Oculus Go – the first standalone VR headset from the Facebook-owned company – comes another standalone headset, this time from Lenovo. The Lenovo Mirage Solo – and its companion VR camera, the appropriately-named Lenovo Mirage Camera – are both available now.

First announced back in January at CES 2018, the Lenovo Mirage Solo does not need a smartphone, PC, or any external sensors to operate. All you need is the headset and its companion wireless remote, and you’re ready to play games, watch media, and surf the internet in virtual reality.

Unlike the Oculus Go, which is an incredibly similar product to the Mirage Solo, this Lenovo headset supports the Google Daydream VR platform. Daydream natively supports immersive views of Google products, like YouTube, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Maps, and more.

The Mirage Solo also has better specs than the Oculus Go. Powering the Mirage Solo is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, a more powerful processor than the Oculus Go’s Snapdragon 821. The Mirage Solo has 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, a headphone jack, and a 4,000mAh battery. Both the Mirage Solo and the Oculus Go have the same screen resolution of 2560 x 1440.

However, with those beefed-up specs comes a beefed-up price. The Lenovo Mirage Solo starts at $399, a stark contrast to the entry-tier version of the Oculus Go which costs $199.

The Lenovo Mirage Solo costs $399 and the companion Lenovo Mirage Camera costs $299.

Thus, if you’re looking to see if a VR headset is something that would be cool to have in your life, the Oculus Go is probably your best bet as you won’t spend a lot to find out if VR is for you. But if you know a VR headset is something you need, the Lenovo Mirage Solo will likely give you a better VR experience.

Along with the Lenovo Mirage Solo comes the Lenovo Mirage Camera. This VR180 camera, the first of its kind, lets you capture images and videos with a 180-degree view using point-and-shoot simplicity. Using the camera, you can snap a photo of a beautiful landscape, put on your Mirage Solo, and immerse yourself in that image whenever you like.

The Lenovo Mirage Camera retails for $299. However, there’s an Amazon deal right now that gets you the Mirage Solo and the Mirage Camera for $649, a $50 savings. Click the buttons below to order yours now!
