Lenovo is launching a new Home Assistant Pack which breathes new life and functionality into their Tab 4-series line of tablets.

Back at CES 2017 Lenovo showed off a number of Alexa-powered smart speakers which looked like the love-child of an Amazon Echo and Google Home. While it was enticing to have more options to choose from when looking for a standalone smart speaker, it seems Lenovo has taken the concept and added a specialized dock attachment for its 4-series tablets.

The Lenovo Home Assistant Pack is a special dock which mounts 4-series tablets and turns them into smart speaker assistants with a screen. With a male USB Type-C port jutting out the side, you just need to slide your Tab 4 tablet into the port and it should automatically switch to the smart assistant interface.

In a way, the Home Assistant Pack helps to transform your tablet into a beefed-up Echo Show, which is pretty sweet granted you already have one of Lenovo's Tab 4-series tablets

The mount has a three-watt speaker which helps to boost the audio from your tablet, and should get just as loud as a standalone Amazon Echo device. In a way, the Home Assistant Pack helps to transform your tablet into a beefed-up Amazon Echo Show, which is pretty sweet granted you already have one of Lenovo’s Tab 4-series tablets. In fact, with the Home Assistant Pack only costing $69.99 and the tablets costing as low as $129.99, you can get a pretty sweet modular Echo with a screen for just about $200, which is still cheaper than Amazon’s own Echo Show which retails for $220.

Lenovo is also offering two different accessory packs to buy with your Home Assistant Pack.

The first is the Kids Pack, which comes with a shock-resistant bumper, a blue-light filter, and a pair of colorful 3M stickers. You can also put the tablets into Kids mode, which loads up a number of child-friendly apps as well as a dedicated Lenovo kids account.

The second pack is the productivity pack, which comes with a Bluetooth keyboard case and special productivity interface. This should be great for those that want to use their tablet for work on the go and as their virtual assistant when they get home.

The Lenovo Home Assist Pack will be available for $69.99 USD starting at the beginning of October.
