iPhone Duo battery specs revealed: Good news for Galaxy Z Fold 8 and other Android rivals
Oct 19, 2026 — 3:06 AM ET

- The iPhone Duo has a 4,883mAh battery according to EU regulatory labels.
- It’s also rated for 1,000 charging cycles before dropping to 80% capacity.
- The Galaxy Z Fold 8’s 4,660mAh battery, on the other hand, is rated for 1,200 charging cycles.
Apple recently opened preorders for the iPhone Duo. While everyone is talking about the folding-and-unfolding animation or the clever hinge-based cooling design, the EU released some information about the iPhone Duo’s battery worth noting.
The European Union’s energy label database finally has information about the iPhone Duo’s battery (via MacRumors). According to the EU’s regulatory database, the iPhone Duo packs a 4,883mAh battery.
Do you think the iPhone Duo will be a waste of money?
For a foldable phone, that is not too bad. In fact, the iPhone Duo has a higher battery capacity than the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which has a typical battery capacity of 4,800mAh and a rated capacity of 4,660mAh. Given the difference between the typical and rated values, the iPhone Duo’s typical battery capacity could be around 5,000mAh. However, it is still nowhere near other wide-foldable phones from Android makers. The Xiaomi 18 Fold has a 6,000mAh battery, and the HUAWEI Pura X Max has a 5,300mAh battery.
Additionally, the iPhone Duo’s battery is rated for only 1,000 charge cycles in the EU’s energy label database. This means that the battery can undergo 1,000 charging cycles before dropping to 80% of its rated capacity. Samsung’s foldable phone batteries, by contrast, should last longer. The Galaxy Z Fold 8’s battery, for example, is rated for 1,200 charging cycles.
Of course, iPhones tend to be more power-efficient thanks to a tighter integration between the hardware and software. The EPREL’s database reflects this as well. The iPhone Duo’s battery is rated for 51 hours and 30 minutes of endurance per charge cycle. The Galaxy Z Fold 8’s battery is rated for 49 hours and 10 minutes of endurance per charge cycle. However, even with better efficiency, the iPhone Duo’s 1,000 charge cycles mean it will likely run around 51,500 hours before battery capacity drops to 80%. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, meanwhile, will last over 58,800 hours.
Other iPhones released this year also have larger batteries than ever before, with global models of the iPhone 18 Pro Max packing a 5,391mAh battery. However, Apple still has a long way to go to catch up with its Android rivals, both in battery capacity and charging cycles.
