Once again, Apple pushes forward in raw speed and leaves the Android superphone in the dust.

When it comes to raw power within mobile processors, Apple takes the cake. Its proprietary AX Bionic chipset consistently trounces chips from other manufacturers that produce silicon for Android. With the launch of the new iPhone 13 series, we wondered what an iPhone 13 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra bout in our Speed Test G suite would look like.

To no one’s surprise, the iPhone’s A15 Bionic destroyed the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in the Galaxy S21 Ultra. In every metric, the iPhone was faster by multiple seconds. In other words, it was not a close match.

Interestingly, the Snapdragon 888 performs pretty well when compared to last year’s Apple chip, the A14 Bionic. Theoretically, the Snapdragon 898 (which we presume would be its name) in 2022 could meet or even exceed the A15. We’ll need to wait and see, though.

As usual, keep in mind that raw speed isn’t everything. This iPhone 13 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra bout isn’t likely to sway buyers too much since choosing one over the other would require also switching operating systems. Also, don’t forget that there are a lot of things you can’t do with an iPhone, such as high-level game emulation. All the processing power in the world can’t help you there.
