The HUAWEI P30 and HUAWEI P30 Pro are receiving a critical night mode update to the front-facing camera that brings optimized low-light functionality to the devices. Referred to as “Super Night Mode” by Gizmochina, this feature aims to increase the quality of selfies taken in dimly lit environments.

As of now, there aren’t any sample photos available, so we aren’t sure how this selfie night mode compares to HUAWEI’s existing Night Mode feature. At this point, we assume it is just bringing the same software image stabilization to the devices’ 32MP selfie cameras that currently exists on the rear shooters.

The new selfie night mode update is only one of several coming to HUAWEI’s EMUI 9.1.0.193 update. Other updates include optimizations to the fingerprint scanner, video editing functionality within the gallery, the addition of Chinese Telecom VoLTE HD voice calling, the August 2019 security patch, and more. Since this update was announced specifically for the Chinese variants of the HUAWEI P30 and P30 Pro (ELE-AL00, ELE-TL00, VOG-ALOO, VOG-AL10, and VOG-TL00), expect to see a slightly different update list once it hits other markets.
