HTC One A9 first security update now rolling out (US)

Rejoice, US HTC One A9 owners are getting their first security patch today! They did surpass that 2-week window, but at about 3 weeks I say this is still an accomplishment.

HTC promised the One A9 would get updates within a 15-day window after Google released software to its Nexus line. Needless to say that’s a bold move. Any manufacturer would have trouble fulfilling such pledge, and we can’t say HTC has been the best at software updates.

We later found out HTC wasn’t only talking about the significant software updates. They are going all the way down to those monthly security updates Google rolls out to its Nexus line.

Rejoice, US HTC One A9 owners are getting their first security patch today! They did surpass that 2-week window, but at about 3 weeks I say this is still an accomplishment.

The news comes from HTC’s very own VP of product management, Mo Versi.

This phone is definitely not for everyone, as we mentioned in our HTC One A9 review, but we will have to say that software buffs should be very pleased with what HTC is doing here. I am currently switching between Samsung and LG devices for daily use, and I don’t see a similar treatment coming anytime soon. Also read:

How many of you bought the HTC One A9? Have you gotten the update yet? You shouldn’t really see any differences after installing it… and that’s a good thing. It’s just something to keep your device safe. Oh, and do keep in mind this is only for the US, unlocked version. These updates tend to roll out in batches, so be patient if yours hasn’t shown up yet.
