Although you can play around with the phablet, download and use various apps, and even browse the web with a Wi-Fi connection without a SIM card, you do need it in order to make and receive calls, send texts, and go online via your carrier’s network.

How to insert a SIM card

The first step on how to insert a SIM card into Galaxy Note 8 is to make sure the phone is turned off. Then just pick up the SIM ejector tool that came with your smartphone check the retail box and push it into the small hole next to the SIM/microSD card tray that’s located on top of the device.

Once the tray pops out, pull it out completely with your fingers, and place your SIM card in the larger of the two slots the smaller is for the microSD card with the metal contacts facing down. After that’s done, just push the tray back into the slot and wait a few seconds for the device to recognize the SIM card.

Step by step instructions:

Step 1: Make sure the device is turned off.

Step 2: Find the SIM ejector tool in the Galaxy Note 8 retail box.

Step 3: Push the ejector tool into the small hole on top of the device beside the SIM/microSD card tray.

Step 4: When the SIM/microSD card tray pops out, pull it out completely with your fingers.

Step 5: Insert the tray back into the slot and wait a few seconds for the device to recognize the card.


Just keep in mind that the Galaxy Note 8 uses a nano-SIM card, which is quite standard on smartphones these days. If you have an older SIM card that’s larger and won’t fit into the slot, we advise you to contact your carrier to get it replaced.
