How to manage status bar icons on the OnePlus 5

Status icons can clutter up our devices quite a lot, and OnePlus has implemented a way to toggle on and off the ones you do and don't want to use.

It’s always nice to be able to glance at your status bar and see what services are currently active, but at some point the top of your device can get incredibly cluttered with icons. Personally, I’ll often have a lot of notifications in my system tray that create a huge number of icons that bog me down, and at some point it would be nice to rid of many of these system icons altogether. Fortunately, OnePlus has listened to my pleas, and has injected a way to remove the icons that you don’t want to see.

How to manage icons on the OnePlus 5 status bar

To toggle these icons on and off, first go to the settings menu, and find “Status Bar” under the “Customization” section. In here, you’ll have access to a number of different status bar settings. Within this, you’ll be able to access the “Icon manager”. Once you tap on this, you’ll have access to a ton of different system icon toggles. You can use these to turn the icons on and off, so you can decide exactly what you want to see at any one time.

While these icons don’t provide any additional function past letting you know the setting is on, it’s useful to be able to turn them on and off when you do or don’t need them.

What icons are you going to turn off? I’m personally getting rid of Bluetooth because I always keep that setting on.
