Having a smartphone is all well and good, but you need a phone plan to make the most of it. Sure, you can rely on Wi-Fi most of the time, but traditional phone calls, SMS, and mobile data all require service via a carrier.

So with that in mind, we want to know how much you’re paying for your phone service each month. Give us the answer via the poll below and leave a comment if you’d like to tell us more (e.g. whether it’s a contract, the region you’re in, etc).

This isn’t just for people on long-term contracts though, we’d also like to hear from you if you’re on a prepaid/pay-as-you-go plan or a month-to-month offering. In the case of prepaid service, you can just vote for the amount you typically spend.

Me? I usually spend roughly R100 a month on a prepaid plan (~$6.50) for my primary phone, as I seldom leave the house and use instant messaging and VoIP calls over Wi-Fi. Also, mobile data is pretty expensive here at around R85 (~$5.50) for 1GB of data, so you’re not getting much bang for your buck.

Nevertheless, you can let us know what you’re spending on phone service each month via the poll above.
