Shortly after the launch of Acer’s, ASUS’, Dell’s, HP’s, and Lenovo’s Googlebooks, Google revealed it was teaming up with actor Henry Cavill to create a new game. The twist was that this game would be created directly on a Googlebook. The company is now launching a new series that details what went into the creation of this game, and the first episode has now dropped.

In this episode, we learn that Cavill’s new game is titled “Mustache Protocol.” The premise is that you’re a hero who has set out to stop rogue CGI artists from erasing every mustache on the planet. This is clearly a reference to his CGI-removed mustache in the movie Justice League.

Long story short, Joss Whedon scheduled reshoots of Justice League around the same time Mission: Impossible — Fallout was filming. While juggling both projects, Cavill was contractually obligated to keep his mustache for Mission: Impossible. The solution was to use CGI to get rid of the mustache for the Justice League reshoots.

The episode explains that the 16-bit side-scroller was made by using the AI tools built into Googlebooks, including Antigravity, Rambler, and Magic Pointer. That means this is a vibe-coded game, which isn’t much of a surprise.

If you find the vibe-coded nature of the game off-putting, maybe this will save it for you. Google announced it has partnered with Movember and will donate $11 for every play during the month of November, up to $500,000. That money will be donated to “support awareness and funding for men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.”

Mustache Protocol isn’t out quite yet. However, you can keep track of updates and watch the next episodes in the series by going to googlebook.com/henry-cavill.
