Poll: Will Hasselblad help OnePlus take the camera crown in 2021?
Although OnePlus excels at crafting excellent affordable flagships, the company’s products lack in the camera department. With the exception of the OnePlus 8 Pro, it’s a field that the company sorely needs to bolster.
Earlier this year, OnePlus’ Pete Lau revealed a new commitment to this effort, stating that OnePlus aims to top the smartphone camera charts in 2021. Now, it seems that the firm has taken its first big step to achieving this goal.
It announced a partnership with Swedish camera firm Hasselblad, the fruits of which will first be on display on the OnePlus 9 series.
We’ve seen smartphone firms partner with camera makers to good effect in the past. Nokia’s long-running relationship with ZEISS resulted in excellent shooters during the Lumia era. More recently, HUAWEI and Leica have crafted notable performers with the P and Mate series. Could OnePlus be on to something similar with Hasselblad?
Android Authority readers were initially skeptical that OnePlus could beat the likes of Apple, HUAWEI, Google, and Samsung in terms of camera performance as early as this year.
