Google shuts down Google France's Google+ page, not that anyone cares

Google France is shutting down its Google+ page, as reported by Android Police. In a post published on the platform yesterday, Google said it would “close the doors” [translated] on its Google+ page this weekend, and suggested fans could instead follow it on Facebook and Twitter.
Google didn’t reveal the reason behind the move, but a look at its recent activity reveals this wasn’t exactly a surprise decision — Google hadn’t posted on the account for 46 weeks prior to this latest announcement.
Google+’s market share has been declining for some years now and many articles have been written about its continued viability in the face of immense social media competition. Though some may have jumped the gun in declaring the platform “dead” several years ago, Google France’s decision to direct its users to channels on competing platforms is nonetheless striking; if Google still has grand long-term plans for the platform, it sure doesn’t look like it.
