September's Pixel update squashes a ton of bugs — here’s what’s fixed

The halfway point of September is proving to be a big day for Android, with Google’s latest software hitting Pixel phones. We’ve got new features arriving as part of the latest Pixel Drop, and we’re seeing plenty of the QPR1 changes we’ve been following in beta over the past several months finally go out to Pixel users everywhere. In addition to all of that, Pixel phones are also getting their latest fixes and security patches.

We’ve already seen two September updates land for Pixel handsets so far this month: First we got CD1A.260905.001.A1 back at the start, followed by CD1A.260905.001.B1, exclusively for Pixel 11 family members. Today Google formally shares its September Pixel update changelog while announcing its latest release: CP3A.260905.009 for Pixel 6 through Pixel 10 models.

While all those new QPR1 changes will no doubt take most of the spotlight, fixes are just as critical — and this release is packed with a bunch. Here’s what Google says we have to look forward to:

• Fix for a crash in the Google app under certain conditions.
• Fix for an issue that causes certain gaming apps to crash when opening.

• Fix for an issue that prevented users from enabling Wi-Fi or Bluetooth under certain conditions.

• Fix for a camera stability issue that causes the system to crash in certain conditions.

• Fix for an issue that causes game lag, choppy framerates, and increased device temperatures during graphics-intensive tasks.

• Fixe for a system crash that could occur when apps are installed, uninstalled, or updated.
• Fix for an an issue where Android System Intelligence could cause the device to become unresponsive due to slow database operations.
• Fix for an issue where enabling the magnification shortcut could cause quick swipes to scroll in the opposite direction.
• Fix for an issue where home screen widgets could disappear after restarting the device.

• Fix for an issue that could cause on-device intelligence features to stop working when force dark mode is enabled.

• Fix for an issue that prevents certain devices from connecting to mobile networks or causes unexpected service interruptions in certain conditions.

• Fix for an issue where media player controls lacked surface animations.
• Fix for a crash that could occur when connecting or disconnecting an external display.
• Fix for a system crash that could occur when tapping a folder on the taskbar in Overview mode.
• Fix for an issue that could prevent notifications from being swiped away.
• Fix for an issue where notifications were partially cut off on the lock screen.
• Fix for an issue where the ‘Shape’ live effect for wallpapers failed to properly separate the subject from the background.
• Fix for an issue where the empty notification shade message did not immediately update to the correct language after changing the device’s system language.
• Fix for an issue that causes text to overlap in notifications under certain conditions.
• Fix to improve performance and reduced lag (jank) when opening the Internet panel from the quick settings shade.

In order to make sure your phone is operating as safe and bug-free as possible, you’re not going to want to wait any longer than you have to before installing Google’s latest patches. Be on the lookout for an OTA update notification hitting your Pixel device soon, with access spreading in waves over the course of the next week.

If you’re impatient, you can always grab one of Google’s OTA downloads or factory images to help speed the process along — just be sure to back things up before you start playing around with your phone’s bootloader if you don’t want to lose any precious data.
