government spying - Smart speakers and a new legal frontier

If you have wanted to purchase a Google Home speaker, the price of entry has now become much easier. As part of Google I/O 2019, the company just announced big and permanent price reductions on three of its four current speakers and smart displays in the Google Home family.

In the U.S. the price of the newly renamed Google Nest Hub smart display (formerly called the Google Home Hub) will go down from $149 to $129. The standard Google Home speaker’s U.S. price will go down from $129 to $99. The biggest price cut will be to the Google Home Max. In the U.S., the cost will go down from $399 all the way to $299.

In the U.K., the price of the Google Nest Hub will go down from 139 pounds to 119 pounds. The standard Google Home’s U.K. price will go down from 129 pounds to just 89 pounds. The Google Home Max price tag will go down from 399 pounds all the way to 299 pounds.

The only current Google Home smart speaker on the market that is not getting a price cut is the small Google Home Mini. It will remain priced at $49.99 in the U.S. and 49 pounds in the U.K. The company will also launch a new smart display, the larger Google Nest Hub Max, on July 15. It will be priced at $229 in the U.S. and 219 pounds in the U.K.

What do you think of these family deep price cuts for these Google Home speakers? Will they entice you to finally purchase one of your own if you have not done so already?
